When a HERS Rater Builds a Home
Course Description
They say the cobblers children have no shoes, but it doesn’t have to be that way! After 12 years of working in energy efficiency and with Portland area builders to improve their homes, Ron Nardozza had an opportunity to build a new home that put all of that hard-earned knowledge to work.
Starting with a basic New Tradition Homes design and modifying it to suit his family’s needs, he then added a set of achievable shell measures and upgraded equipment to yield a very comfortable, energy efficient home with very low utility costs. Dan and Ron will talk about how this was accomplished, without going to extreme measures or running up huge costs during construction.
The presentation will address what was done and why, and demonstrate that a high level of energy efficient construction is well within reach. Come and hear Ron and Dan discuss the approach and decisions and learn what % of increase was achieved in modeled savings and at what % cost of construction.
